Frequently Asked Questions
What is an ‘ecclesia’?
The Greek word usually translated “church” in our English Bibles is ‘ekklesia’. It refers to a group of people who meet together for a specific reason - in other words, a meeting or a congregation.
Christadelphians often use this word instead of “church” because it reminds us that the importance is on the people, not the building in which they meet.
How many people attend Brant County ecclesia?
Our community consists of 60 members, from a diverse range of age groups. It's important to note that this count specifically refers to individuals who have been baptized into Christ with an understanding of the true Gospel. This number does not include children or non-baptized individuals who are also associated with our community.
How does the Brant County operate?
We are a congregation built on the support of each of its members working together in service to God and one another. Traditionally, we are described as a lay community, meaning that there are no individuals who are ordained or clergy members.
How many Christadelphians are in Canada and the world?
It is estimated that there are over 2,000 Christadelphians living in Canada and approximately 50,000 Christadelphians worldwide. The largest concentration of Christadelphians is in the third world, particularly eastern and southern Africa.

What is the dress code?

Anyone is welcome to our ecclesia. We would ask that you dress respectfully as you are able.
On Sundays, most men wear dress shirts or polo shirts with long pants. Women typically wear modest dresses or skirts.
Do I need to bring anything?

Feel free to bring your Bible along if you have one! We have spares available for use at the hall, but using your own makes your study much more personal and impactful.
There is no need to contribute anything to our voluntary collections, and nobody will pressure you in any way.
Do you break bread and drink wine with other churches?

Christadelphians practise closed fellowship. This means we only share bread and wine with others baptised into Jesus’ name under the Christadelphian understanding of the gospel message.
We’d be more than happy to explain more about why this is the case!
As a visitor, please don’t take offence at this. Consider using these few minutes for reading, praying or reflecting on your week.
Is there a cost involved with attending your meetings?

There is no cost involved at all. Attendance is completely free, as are all the resources we can offer.
We do take a voluntary collection during the Sunday morning memorial meeting. Nobody is pressured to donate to these bag collections.
